Takafumi Fujimoto (Japan)

Born in 1965, Tokyo,Japan.

Completed percussion studies at Tokyo College of Music.
Performs as principal timpanist of Kanagawa Philharmonic
Orchestra since 1993. Appointed as assistant professor at
Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, and concurrently serves as associate professor at Tokyo National University of Fine
Arts and Tokyo College of Music.
He lectures extensively on the subject of percussion.

Takafumi Fujimoto frequently plays with his percussion group
"Shun-Ka-Shu-Toh", in addition to performing solo concerts
as a Marimba player and a Jazz Vibraphone player.

Award Histroy

  • 1987, took second prize in Japan's Wind and Percussion Competition.
  • 1989, took second prize in Luxembourg's International Percussion
    Competition (as member of "Shun-Ka-Shu-Toh").
  • 1992, second prize in Geneva's International Music Competition.
